We love these self-portraits of Hiromix (also known as Toshikawa Hiromi) in this issue of Studio Voice, dedicated to the artist’s work alongside articles written by family, friends and Nobuyoshi Araki himself. Pioneer of the ‘girly photography’ (onnanoko shashinka) movement in the 90’s in Japan, Hiromix paved the way for the younger Japanese teenage girls of her generation with her candid approach and snapshot aesthetics.
